The Soul, part 2

Part 3 of Spirit, Soul and Body.

I feel like writing a little more about the Will. As a mother I talk to many young people. Some of them have problems with making decisions. A current topic in that age is: How to choose a partner? How would I know that this is God? Just think if I am deceived———–. There are many questions and a lot of insecurity.

Before I talk about anything else, I talk about their relationship with God. I want them to understand, really understand, that He is for them and not against them. He is like a good daddy, desiring the best for His children.

If you are a Christian, you have to look for a Christian partner according to 2.Cor.6:14. You two are supposed to become one in spirit, soul and body. I always recommend them to pray together in an early stage of their relationship. Then they should share their thoughts with each other. You have to tell the other what is important to you and what do you want to achieve in life. If you do not want to leave your city or country, do not marry one with a passionate calling to be a missionary. You are not supposed to become one in body before after marriage.(Gen.2:24) This is repeated in the New Testament. Both of you must have a deep peace and joy about the relationship.

Since the emotions can be strong. I often recommend them both to talk to a pastor or another person whom they trust. I look upon myself as one who gives advice, but I will never control, nor manipulate. There have been many frightening prophesies in this area.

Other important choices are the choices of profession and where to live. Unless God has spoken, choose what you desire and use your abilities.

THE MAIN RULE FOR ALL CHOICES IS: ASK GOD FIRST!

Many are so afraid to be outside the will of God. When I ask if they deliberately have done anything wrong, they often answer: NO. In those cases I have to help them to disclose the lies behind the fear. I am very happy when people confess true disobedience because that will lead to freedom and a chance to come back on the right path.

A practical advice: NEVER MAKE AN IMPORTANT DECISION WHEN YOU ARE DEPRESSED OR IN A TIGHT SITUATION. TALK TO SOMEBODY TRUSTWORTHY.

YOUR MIND

Your mind can be dominated by the same three sources as your will: yourself, the devil and God.

The mind consists of: thoughts, fantasy and imagination.

A child´s world is full of fantasies. It is therefore of vital importance how we feed its mind.

Whatever we see and hear is saved on our internal computer.

I worked with children in a secular setting and I was chocked by what they were allowed to hear and see. . I remember that they saw films that I would not see since they created fear because of horror pictures. Experts on children say that fairy-tales are so good for them. They develop the child´s imagination, but in my opinion they build an unreal world. A child does not have the same ability as an adult to distinguish between fantasy and reality, lies and truth.

We, as Christians, must pray for the protection of the mind of our child and be very careful with what we say and what we show them. I want to say to parents: “Do not talk too much to children about the devil and his works, but fill them with Jesus and stories about Him” I say this even if I am involved in Spiritual Warfare and deliverance. As parents we have to live in a close relationship with Jesus so that we can be good examples.

To all who have contact with children: WATCH CAREFULLY YOUR TONGUE AND WHAT YOU SHOW THEM!

As adults we live more in reality, but we are also having fantasies. Those who are watching pornography, are actually feeding their sexual imagination.

We can also have good and Godly fantasies. An artist will improvise before he or she creates something for the visible world. His source is important for the result.

God is using our ability to imagine things when He gives us dreams and visions. We are seeing thing with the Eyes of Faith, and the invisible becomes visible. When I pray, I often get a picture from God. Dreams, pictures and visions must be in accordance with the Word of God.

Some people live a lot in an imaginary world and that world might take over. When that happens, we say that the person is psychotic. The real world seems too difficult and painful experiences are suppressed. That person needs help, also professionally.

The Bible gives examples of isolation in prayer, but I am warning you with negative fantasies: “Do not isolate yourself too much!”Seek God for help and also people. The devil is not allowed to dominate your imaginary world and his power has to be broken.

We read in Rom.12:2 that our mind should be renewed. That is a life-long process.

The devil is called “the Father of Lies” (John.8:44) and he lies through what we see and hear. He can also whisper lies into our ear. We might not hear the whisper and think that his thoughts are our thoughts. I am often helping people in disclosing the lies of the devil. We must know the Truth in order to do that. The Truth will set us free and the Truth is the Word of God.(John8:31+32) If you are bound in one or the other area, I am sure that you believe some lies. Lies are always binding. Lies can create fear. You feel the fear, but forget the lie behind it.

Martin Luther said that you can not stop a swallow flying over your head, but you can stop him from building a nest. We read 2.Cor.10:4+5. It says that we should pull down every stronghold and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We are able to this because God has given us spiritual weapons. I will write in detail about this later.

There are many people having difficult situations. They might not sleep and wish they could turn off their thoughts with a switch. I have some spiritual advice: Be with God and ask Him to help you. Fill yourself with faith-teaching. Turn on some songs of praise and worship.(especially about God´s love.)Pray in tongues if you have that.

You can put on the HELMET of SALVATION in the morning.(Ef. 6:17) Jesus cried out on the Cross: “It is finished!” Jesus paid the price and made you whole and healed your spirit, soul and body. He broke all the curses of the devil. Ask Jesus to reveal to you the truth about Him and yourself. Put this helmet on your mind and do not take it off. Bore you go to sleep, ask God to protect you so that you will not have any bad dreams.

OUR MIND IS AN ARENA FOR WAR, BUT WE WILL HAVE VICTORY BECAUSE OF THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB AND THE WORD WE TESTIFY.(Rev.12:11)
