Inheritance
15th of June
You probably know that we all inherit something. We inherit a certain resemblance from our parents. I am sure that you have heard this saying: “Oh, She looks exactly like her mother or there is no doubt about the fatherhood of this boy. We do not only inherit their looks, but also their intelligence and certain traits from their character. In 1.Pet.1:18 we read that we are redeemed from aimless conduct inherited from our forefathers. We inherit both the positive and the negative from our parents. We can see that certain sicknesses run in the families. You might have visited a doctor and he asks if somebody else has had the same symptoms in the family. Some types of cancer are inheritable. If somebody in the family is an alcoholic, the tendency for misusing alcohol, is greater. Many scientists have written books about inheritance and that is not my intension, but I will underline that inheritance plays a much greater role in our life that we might have thought. I will never forget the time when my eighteen months old child ate a long pepper exactly the same way as old Bulgarians. Her father is Bulgarian. She turned them around in oil and she had never seen anybody do it this way. I was shocked and especially since I believed that the environment played a major role in people’s lives. I studied the importance of inheritance after this incident. Why was it important for me to learn about the inheritable factors? Because God wanted to use me to brake generational curses.
We can read about curses and blessings in the Bible. Go with me to Exodus 34:7 where we can read that God keeps His mercy for thousand generations, but the sins are only following the children of the third and fourth generation. If you want to read more about curses and blessings, you can go to Deuteronomy the 28th chapter. Sicknesses do not come under blessings and we therefore know for certain that we can use the name of Jesus and brake their power and pray for healing. I want you to read Gal.3:13. It says: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.” Jesus has taken our sins, our shame and He became a curse for us. We know very well that both sin, sicknesses and curses exist on the earth to-day, but we can be forgiven, healed and come under the blessings because of the perfect work of Jesus on the Cross. We can thank Jesus for the positive things that we have inherited and the negative ones can we brake in the name of Jesus. The curses that we brake in our families will have an effect on the children living to-day and on the future generations. God has shown me different things through the years. It will sometimes lead to a change of habits. I will never forget that time when the Holy Spirit showed me that I said the same bad words that my mother had said to me to my children. I knew that these words had hurt me. If the Holy Spirit had not shown me this and if I had not been willing to change, these words could have become like curses going through the next generations. We do not only inherit genes, but words and behavioral patterns. We are very receptive as children and we copy what we see and hear from the adults around us, especially those who are the closest to us. We save the information on our mental computer. It forms our personality and the information do not get automatically deleted. We need the help of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God in order to get rid of the undesirable information. it might be a long process.
I said that the blessings follow in thousand generations. If you are the first born-again Christian in your family, yo will bring blessings into your family. This will affect the ones that live to-day, but also the coming generations. You might have experienced persecution from your family, but they are blinded and do not understand the blessings that you bring into the family. My grand-grand- father was a captain on a ship bringing missionaries to different parts of the world. We have several missionaries in the family. To-day I am one and my youngest daughter has this divine calling. I am grateful for this inheritance.
When someone dies, we will inherit either their debt or their money and property. I cannot think of anything else that creates so many quarrels and divisions in families as this. Some people become enemies for life. I am very thankful that I have never experienced this. When my parents died , my sister and I divided in an atmosphere of peace.
A dead person has often left a testament and that makes the division of inheritance easier. Do you know that Jesus wrote a testament? We can read about that in Heb.9. We can read that Jesus is the Mediator of the new covenant, another word for testament. In Heb.9:17: “For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives.” During the first covenant they used the blood from animals to sprinkle the book, the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. Without blood, there is no remission of sins. In the new covenant, Jesus is our sacrifice. He is the Lamb that was slain. Thank God that we live in theNEW COVENANT.
We read in Eph.1:11 that we have obtained an inheritance in Him, Jesus. We can continue to read that we were sealed with the Holy Spirit Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. His blood gives us eternal life and the kingdom of God. Mark 4 says that the kingdom of God is like a small seed. It is planted and it should grow and grow. Luke 17:21 says that the kingdom of God is within us. We as Christians have inherited the nature of God and have received the entrance fee to Heaven. We have an inheritance for our earthly life and our eternal one.
We have inherited God’s nature, the righteousness of Jesus, all the promises that got their yes and amen in Him. We became citizens of a kingdom that will never be destroyed. We got to be children of the Almighty God and received the same rights as His Son, Jesus Christ. Even the inheritance of a millionaire, cannot be compared to this fantastic inheritance. We must focus on this inheritance. The life-long battle against our flesh will be easier then and we will become more like Jesus.
I could write books about His promises, but i choose to only mention a couple. Jesus says in John 14:13 “Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do.” In Matt.11:28 Jesus says that all who labor and are heavy laden should come to Him, and He will give them rest. He says to His disciples right before He ascends to heaven that He would be with them always, even to the end of the age. We are His disciples to-day and all the promises are ours.
I mentioned the quarrels that could arise after someone was dead, but this is not necessary among the children of God since we have all inherited the same. God has actually given the same inheritance to all people on this earth. The Bible says that Jesus is the Savior of the whole world. Quite a few refuses to receive that inheritance and even more lack the knowledge of what they could inherit in Jesus Christ. We are obliged to tell them.
GO OUT AND PROCLAIM THE NEW TESTAMENT OF JESUS THAT IS AVAILABLE TO EVERYBODY ON THIS EARTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
