Jesus is the way
November 28th
I want to write about Jesus as the way, the truth and the life. The first will be about THE WAY.
In the same scripture you can read that no one comes to the Father, but through Jesus. (John 14:6) In the world to-day we are so afraid to step on somebody’s religious toes that we hardly dare to preach that there is only One Way to salvation or one way to God. That road is called Jesus and only Jesus gives us admission to God. In certain countries it is forbidden to preach that Jesus is the only way to God, the Father. That is like cutting the umbilical cord before the child is born. If one does not get to know how one can come to God, one does not reach Him either. If you have heard the name of a place, but no map is available nor is there anyone who can tell you the way, you are lost and will not reach the desired place. The devil knows this and he makes as many laws as possible in order to keep as many children for himself as possible. In these countries you keep meetings in the homes or “underground” or go around the law, not to be caught.
THE NEW AND LIVING WAY:
We read in Heb 10:19-21 that Jesus made a new and living Way to the Holiest by His Blood.
In the old days a High Priest went into the Most Holy and made sacrifices for the people. He sacrificed a faultless lamb or other faultless animals depending on the type of the sacrifice. The High Priest went into the Most Holy once a year. When Jesus offered His Own Body to be sacrificed on the Cross, it was done once and for all. God, the Father accepted the Sacrifice of His Son and we can come to the Father because of the Blood of Jesus. He was the only person Who was blameless.
In all other religions people have to do something in order to please their gods. We as Christians cannot do anything to please Him, except to believe in Him. It is only because of Jesus that we can come to God. It is wonderful that I do not need to be condemned for my sins, but I can leave the court-room with the words: BOUGHT WITH A PRICE THAT SETS YOU FREE. YOU ARE ACQUITTED. It is rather humiliating that I cannot to anything to deserve the title of being the child of God. It was a painless birth for me, it was all grace.
When very important persons visit a place or a country, a red carpet is rolled out. I might not experience to be that important in the secular world, but I walk on a red carpet every day. Jesus took His Blood and made a red carpet all the way to the Father. I am just as much a daughter of God as Jesus is a Son. I am born by the Blood of Jesus. IT IS ONLY ONE WAY TO THE FATHER AND THAT IS THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS.
OUR CHRISTIAN WALK.
When we are born again and become children of God, we should live as Christians. We should mature from being a small child to an adult. We will eventually become soldiers i the Army of God and we do not have to become members of the Salvation Army in order to enter His Army. (It is also fine to be a member of the Salvation Army)
When we are born again we are placed in the beginning of a Road leading us all the Way to Heaven. Nobody knows how long it will take us to reach the goal, but the run has begun. Paul says in Phil.3:14 “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.. In 2.Tim.4:7 he says: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have kept the faith.” He continues to say that a crown of righteousness is waiting for him. The same crown is waiting for you and me when we reach Home.
Paul talks about running and uses terms that are used in sports. It is therefore not a life on the sofa in front of TV that Paul talks about. Even if it is allowed to watch TV.
Those that are running on ski, orientation or marathon, try to find out how the terrain looks. They want to know how difficult it is and how they should prepare themselves. We, Christians, are not always so eager to prepare ourselves for “The way of life”. Are we trained well enough? Do we carry enough water and food or other energy? Have we chosen the right distance? Is it too difficult or too easy? A newly born Christian can be very eager to get rid of the demonic powers over his or her country. The result can be that the person gets in big trouble. This was not ordained by God at all. Maybe He wanted them to cast out rejection of their own life, but not the country. Demonic powers are real. If you are in the military and you do not know how to use the weapons, it can become a catastrophe. You must also learn how to use the spiritual weapons.
You need food and energy in order to run. The longer you run, the more water and energy. It is the same when you walk or run on the Way of Life. I have written before that God’s Word is our food. You need to be filled with the Word of Life. It is written that the Word is like a lamp to our feet. Sometimes it can be very dark around us and we do not know where to go. Then the Word is like a lamp, showing us where to go, at least a few meters more.
THE GOAL.
You must always visualize the goal. You might meet a hindrance on the Way and you do not know how to continue. I remember once when I was young. I was walking on boggy ground. Then my one leg got stuck very deep. I was so thankful that I had some friends with me and they helped me. I had never been there before and God never wants us to enter strange territories alone. He has placed us together with sisters and brothers with whom we should walk. These sisters and brothers should have the goal clear and know the Way in order to walk together in the same direction.
BROAD AND NARROW ROADS AND STRAIGHT AND CROOKED.
We know that there are broad roads and narrow roads or sometimes they are hardly visible. We read in Matt.7: 13+14: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Why will so few find the narrow road? There might be many reasons, but one might be that they do not look for it. Another is that they do not have the Word which functions as a lamp. We read in the Bible about the ten virgins and five lacked oil on their lamps when the Bridegroom came. The five could not participate in the Wedding. Oil is often a symbol of The Holy Spirit. We have to fill the lamps with oil. Otherwise they extinguish and we do not see the Road.
A road can be straight or crooked. It can go upwards or down the hill. When we enter a forest, we have to follow the path very carefully. When we are on a mountain, it can become very dangerous if a strong wind has blown snow or other things over the road. I once got a picture that I was a truck under an avalanche. The truck needed help to be dug out. This was during a time of crisis in my life. The truck was not outside the road, but the avalanche had buried the truck. When the car was free, it was repaired so that it could drive again. Sometimes crisis like this can make us choose other roads that look a little easier. Remember then that the broader road might lead to destruction. Keep the goal before your eyes!
THE HELPER:
Jesus Is the Way and He wants to Help while you are on the Way. He has sent us The Holy Spirit and He has said: “Call on me, and I will answer you.” He does not just place you on the right path and disappear and say: “See you in Heaven!” You would most likely not reach there if it was so. No, He has said that He is with us all the days of our lives.
I want to bring many with me to Heaven and I say: “Do you want to join me?” Then you have to leave the old way and come and step on the NEW ONE.
DO YOU WANT TO WALK WITH JESUS ON THE WAY TO GOD??????????????????
