Jesus is the truth

December 8th

Jesus does not say that He has the truth, but He IS the Truth. That means that there cannot exist any lies in Him, not even a little one. All of Jesus is Truth.

I looked up in a dictionary and looked for the different meanings of truth. I found many explanations depending on which philosophy or faith you had. They mentioned absolute truths and logical truths. That means that you draw a conclusion, based on what is said. I believe that Jesus was and is absolute true.

God is also Truth. We read i Ex.34:6 that the Lord passed before Moses and proclaimed: “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and Truth. In 2.Sam.7:28 we read: “And now, O Lord God, and Your words are True, and you have promised this goodness to your servant.

Since both God and Jesus are the Truth, The Holy Spirit also has to be the Truth. You can look up John 14:15-18. There Jesus says that He will send them(the disciples) another Helper, The Spirit of Truth. Everything that The Holy Spirit conveys to us is true and we are wise if we listen to Him.

When we are born again, The Spirit of Truth moves inside of us. We receive The Spirit of Truth as a guarantee that we are children of God. It says in 1.John 1:8 that if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us. In verse 10 it says that if we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and His word is not in us. The Truth is that all men have sinned and we all need to be cleansed by the Blood of Jesus.

The Word of God is Truth.

David says in psalm 119:43 “And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, For I have hoped in Your ordinances. It says in verse 142 in the same psalm: “Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.”

You can look up John 8. You can read the whole chapter. Jesus talked to some Jews. He tells them that they are trying to kill Him because the Word of God does not abide in them. He says that He has spoken the Truth to them, but they were not of the Truth, but of the devil. He says that the devil is their father and he was a murderer from the beginning. Besides that, there is no truth in the devil and he is called “the father of lies” Now we see the contrasts: Jesus is the Truth and the devil is The Father of Lies.

In the world to-day we talk about white lies and gray-zones. That means that there is a little of everything. Many think that white lies are accepted since they serve a positive purpose. For me there are no white lies. They are just as black as “the Angel of Light”. In the gray zones one does not really know the details of the laws and one interprets the laws to benefit oneself. It is not 100% illegal, but on the border. I want to live in the light, and not in a gray zone.

In psalm 43:3 it says: ” Oh, send out your light and your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your tabernacle.” Here we can see that Light and Truth belong together. The opposite is Lies and Darkness. I enjoy being where the Truth is spoken. I do not like to be places where you never know if they speak the truth or not.

I will show you two psalms that talk about the connection between Mercy and Truth. The first is psalm 85:10 where it says that Mercy and Truth have met each other. In psalm 89:14 it says:

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and Truth go before Your face.” In John 1:14 it says: “We beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and Truth.

It also says that Truth and Love belong together. In 1.Cor.13:6 it says that love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the Truth.

When we think about truth, we think about speaking truth. In other words we think about being honest. When you start a new job, it is important for the people hiring you to find out if you are honest or not. Are your coming with true information? Are you doing what you promise to do? Are the numbers you are presenting correct? Are you adding or subtracting in order for things to look better? In India I heard that some banks were hiring Christians because they were known to be more honest. That is a good reputation to have. It is not so strange since The Truth lives on the inside of us.

I want to have friends whom I can trust. They should not tell others what I confide in them. They should be seeking for truth. We are all seeing partly, but I like to have friends who are willing to change when they discover that they were wrong. When we have made an agreement, it should be kept. One of the worst things a person can do to me, is to lie. I can take an unpleasant truth, but not a lie. I experience this as lack of confidence in me and I have a very low tolerance for it.

Jesus is my best friend. I can talk to Him about anything. I know that when I ask Him for advice, He will give me an honest answer. He does not always give me an answer that is sweet for my ears, but what He says is True. He will always tell me the Truth mixed with love. He shows me mercy and grace, but He does not look like sin. He makes no compromise with sin. Real Truth does not make any compromise. I have grown up with humanism. That can become so round that nothing is true any more. Just think if you step on anybody’s sore toe. I was among students at the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies. Those with whom I had the best relationship were those with opposite points of view. I could hold debates based on the Word of God, and they had their strong ideologies. To-day I think about these debates as debates between darkness and light. The people I talked with were seeking the Truth and were therefore willing to listen, but did unfortunately not agree.

What we do and how we live reflect either the Truth or The Liar. I refer to Daniel 4:37. There it says that Nebuchadnezzar praised, extolled and honored the King of heaven and all His works were true and His ways were just. Our words are not always in accordance with our deeds or the other way around. I do not believe that the Truth have come through our whole being when that happens. We should not live a life changing between darkness and light. The bible says that we should walk by the Spirit. That actually means that we should walk in Truth.

I will finally say that lies are binding us and the Truth sets us free. Refer to John 8:32+36.

In order for that to happen, we must know the Truth. If we do not know what the Bible says, we do not know the Truth. In addition to that, we have to know God, the Father, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit. They are all representing THE TRUTH.

I WANT TO CUT YOU FREE FROM THE BONDS OF THE LIAR AND ASK THE SON, JESUS CHRIST TO SET YOU FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
